25m Pistol Women – Dorjsuren brought German’s flag on the podium

Munkhbayar DORJSUREN won her second 2009 World Cup series medal by leading the 25m Pistol Women final match at the world cup stage of Milan. The German shooter preceded on the podium China’s YUAN and Australia’s YAUHLEUSKAYA.

Beijing’s Olympic Bronze medallist Munkhbayar DORJSUREN, shooting for Germany, won the 25m Pistol Women event at the ISSF World Cup stage in Milan, Italy, with 789.9 (589+200.9) points.

DORJSUREN, 39, secured her second medal of the season, following the Bronze won in Munich last week. The German athlete can be considered an expert of the Milan’s shooting range: here DORJSUREN has won five different ISSF World Cup Gold medals, two Silvers and one Bronze, in the last 12 years.

Managing the 5-point qualification’s head start she had, DORJSUREN kept behind her the Chinese shooter YUAN Jing, who finished in second place.

In spite of shooting the highest score in the final round (205.4 points), the 22-year old Chinese shooter finished in second securing Silver with a score of 789.4 points, due to a lower qualification score of 584 points. She had won Gold at the third world cup stage of the year in Munich, Germany.

Lalita YAUHLEUSKAYA of Australia secured today’s Bronze medal by climbing thanks to an excellent final round of 205.2 points. The 45-year old athlete won today’s medal with a total score of 785.2 (580+205.2) points, securing her second podium following the Silver medal she won at April’s world cup stage of Beijing.

The 1988 Olympic Champion, Georgia’s Nino SALUKVADZE placed in fourth with 783.9 (584+199.9), preceding the 2004 Olympic Silver medallist Lenka MARUSKOVA who placed in fifth with 782.7 (581+ 201.7) points.

The 28-year old Spanish shooter Sonia FRANQUET placed in sixth by outdoing 52.8 to 50.2 points Bulgaria’s Maria GROZDEVA in a shoot-off.

50m rifle 3 position Women – Pfeilschifter shot her second consecutive Gold

The unbeatable German rifle shooter Sonja Pfeilschifter won today’s 50m Rifle 3 Positions Women event, claiming her second consecutive Gold medal at the ISSF World Cup in Milan.

Germany’s Sonja PFEILSCHIFTER, who won the 10m Air Rifle women event two days ago, played an excellent match at today’s 50m Rifle 3 Position competition. Qualified in fourth place with 585 points, the 38-year old German athlete climbed in the lead by firing the highest score of today’s final, 101.9 points. With a total score of 686.9 points (585+101.9), Sonja Pfeilschifter secured her second consecutive Gold medal, her 39th ISSF World Cup medal won in rifle events.

Climbing to the highest step of the podium, Pfeilschifter overtook the qualification’s leader, the Serbian shooter Lidija MIHAJLOVIC, who finished in second place winning Silver with a total score of 685.3 points (587+98.3). The 40-year old Serbian shooter, an Olympic finalist of Beijing, had won her last ISSF world cup medal (a Silver) at the 2008 world cup stage of Rio De Janeiro, Brazil.

With a total score of 684.1 (585+99.1) points, today’s Bronze medal went to the 22-year old Chinese shooter WAN Xiangyan, who shot her third, consecutive podium in this event out of four world cup stages since the beginning of the year. The young athlete had started the season by winning a Silver at the world cup stage of Changwon, Korea, and kept on winning at the world cup in Beijing, China, where she shot a Bronze medal in front of her spectators.

WAN fought right to the last shot against USA’s Jamie BEYERLE, who climbed from the sixth place she had on the start list, coming closer to the podium placements shot after shot. The American shooter (who celebrated her 25th birthday today) tried to find a spot on the podium, eventually finishing in fourth place with a total score of 683.7 (583+100.7) points, only 4 tenths far from the Bronze medal.

The second Chinese finalist, the winner of this year’s ISSF World Cup stages in Korea and China, YIN Wen, finished in fifth place with 681.1 (585+96.1) points, preceding Swiss’s first time finalist Andrea BRUEHLMANN who placed in sixth with 680.1 (583+97.1) points.

50m Rifle 3 Positions Man – HE won his second consecutive Gold

China’s HE Zhaohui keeps on winning, pocketing his second consecutive Gold medal in the 50m Rifle 3 Positions Men event out of two world cup stages. The hosting country Italy celebrated the Silver medal won by the 21-year old first time finalist Campriani.

HE Zhaohui of the People’s Republic of China, 19, won his second consecutive world cup medal by winning the 50m Rifle Three Positions men event at the ISSF World Cup of Milan.

The keen Chinese shooter, who had debuted in the ISSF World Cup series in Beijing last April, left no chances to his opponents, qualifying in first place with 1181 points and 8 points of advantage over the other finalists.

With a fantastic final round of 103.8 points, for a total score of 1284.8 points, HE won his second consecutive world cup Gold medal in this event following the one he won in Munich last week.

Silver went to the Italian shooter Niccolò CAMPRIANI, 21-year old, who had never made into a 50m Rifle 3 Positions Men final round before. The young home shooter qualified in second place with 1173 points, winning Silver with a total score of 1269.6 points after an intense duel against Sweden’s JOHANSON.

Anders JOHANSON, 39, entered today his first ISSF final round ever. Facing the pressure of the match, the Swedish athlete battled right to the last shot against Italy’s Campriani in the fight for Silver. Finishing with 1268.5 (1172+96.5) points, 0.9 points less then what scored by the Italian finalist, the Johanson placed in third and pocketed Bronze, his first international medal.

Behind them, the second Chinese finalist, Lei ZHANG, climbed from the seventh to the fourth position, closing the match with a total of 1265.4 points. Following in fifth place, Russia’s Alexei KAMENSKI shot a total of 1264.9 points. At the same time, Norway’s Ole Magnus BAKKEN finished in sixth place with 1264.6 points after scoring a final round of 92.6 points.

The next event, the 50m Rifle 3 Positions Women final round, will tale place tomorrow at 12.00 Milan time (GMT/UTC+2).

10m Air Pistol Man- Swiss’s Grunder shot a record match

A world cup first time finalist, Lukas GRUNDER, 19, equalled the Junior World Record, leading the final match and winning his first gold medal in this event.

The first time finalist Lukas GRUNDER surprised everybody at today’s 10m Air Pistol men event, claiming Gold with a record qualification score. The 19-year old Swiss shooter, who had never won an ISSF medal before, walked into the final with an equalled Junior World Record of 588 points, with a safe advantage of 5 points on the other finalists.

In spite of his lack of experience, the young GRUNDER did not hesitate and shot a fantastic match firing 103.1 points for a total score of 691.1 points, winning his first ISSF world cup medal.

GRUNDER turned out to be unreachable: Ukraine’s Serhiy KUDRIYA closed the match about nine points behind him, securing Silver with 682.2 (583+99.2) points.

The 26-year old Ukraine shooter, forty-second in the world rank, had never won an ISSF medal before, and he had taken part in an ISSF World Cup only once, at the 2008 Rio de Janeiro’s stage, when he had placed seventh.

Another first-time world cup finalist, Russia’s Denis KOULAKOV, 29, secured Bronze by placing in third with 680.6 (582+98.6) points. He was followed by two young athletes, the 18-year old Chinese shooter ZHANG Bin and the 23-year old Sergey CHERVYAKOVSKIY, who placed in fourth and fifth place, respectively.

The expert 28-year old Polish shooter Wojciech KNAPIK followed in sixth place with 678.6 points, fourth tenths more then what scored by the Olympic finalist of Beijing Brian BEAMAN, seventh with 98.2 points.

10m Air Pistol Women- Olympic Champion GUO on the podium next to her teammate HU

Beijing’s Olympic Champion Guo Wenjun (CHN) won the 10m Air Pistol women final with a consistent advantage on her followers, preceding her teammate Hu Jun. Bronze went to Poland’s Sagun Lewandowska, who fired the highest score of today’s final.

The 2008 Olympic Champion of Beijing GUO Wenjun, 24, from China, won the 10m Air Pistol women final, shooting her first medal of the year and qualifying for the ISSF World Cup Final in Rifle and Pistol events.

The Chinese shooter, who had won also the 2008 edition of the ISSF World Cup stage of Milan, placed in first with a score of 489.9 points. The Chinese shooter had qualified for today’s final match in the lead, with a qualification score of 392 points, and shot a final of 97.9 points gaining the highest step of the podium.

While GUO shot in the lead with a safe advantage on the followers, her teammate HU Jun fought right to the last shot against the Polish shooter Miroslawa SAGUN LEWANDOWSKA to secure Silver.

HU, 30-year old, winner of the second world cup stage of this season held in Beijing, finished in second winning Silver with 488.5 (388+100.6) points.
She preceded Poland’s SAGUN LEWANDOWSKA, who placed in third winning Bronze with a total score of 486.0 points. The Polish athlete shot the highest score in the final, 101.0 points, climbing from sixth place she had on the start list with a qualification score of 385 points.

Following in fourth place, the Olympic Champion of Seoul 1988, the Serbian shooter Jasna Sekaric, scored 483.6 points, and secured the fourth place by outdoing Spain’s Sonia FRANQUET 10.6 to 8.7 in a shoot-off.

Beijing’s Olympic Bronze medallist Nino SALUKVADZE climbed from the eighth to the sixth place, finishing with 482 (384+98) points. She was followed by the third Chinese shooter TONG Xin, seventh with 481.9 (386+95.9) points and by Serbia’s Zorana ARUNOVIC, eighth with 480.3 (386+94.3) points.
