It was more than exciting – but then it was not. In the final of the air pistol contest for women, no one asked whether STEYR would gain a medal or how many we would gain – the only question was, who of our female shooters would be the first three!

All three medals – gold, silver, bronze – were won by STEYR-ladies!

Gold went to the “shooting star” of the last months, Wenjun GUO, the young Chinese, who did not only take advantage of the fact, that she shot “at home”, she also won the latest two World Cups in Munich and Milan. With 492,3 rings she also made a new Final Olympic Record!Natalja PADERINA, long-time STEYR shooter and friend of us, shot herself to silver and – with 391 rings in thequalification – to a new Olympic Record, her second big success after gaining the gold medal at the IWK in Munich.Bronze was won by Nino SALUKVADZE from Georgia, she is also shooting STEYR pistols for years already, at the IWK in Munich she finished second, gaining the silver medal.

What is most remarkable:

All eight finalists shot with STEYR-technology!Every single of these world-best female shooters used an air pistol made at STEYR Sportwaffen to come that far!

As for the men:

Gold and silver at the air pistol men’s event go to STEYR!Wei PANG from China gained the most beautiful noble metal, high up there on the podium, just a bit behind Jong Oh JIN from Corea – another highly contented STEYR-shooter!
