Four ISSF Vice-Presidents elected by the General Assembly

Three ISSF Vice-Presidents were confirmed in their positions, and a new Vice-President was elected during today’s ISSF General Assembly, taking place in Munich in occasion of the 50th ISSF World Championship in all shooting events.

Sheikh Salman S.S.H. Al Sabah (KUW), the President of the Asian Shooting Confederation, become the new ISSF Vice-President. The ISSF General Assembly expressed its preference electing Sheikh Al Sabah with a total of 238 votes “Dear colleagues thanks for your support. – Said Sheik Al Sabah right after the ballot – I promise you that I will give my best to promote our sport and to work in favour of our athletes!”

Mr Luciano Rossi (ITA), the President of the Italian Clay Shooting Federation FITAV, was the most voted of the re-elected ISSF Vice-Presidents. The General Assembly confirmed his mandate for another term with a total of 217 votes “I would like to thank you all, dear friends and colleagues – Said Mr Rossi – I will work to support our sport and our athletes, and I am sure that if we will keep on collaborating under the guidance of our President Vazquez Raña and our Secretary General Schreiber, we will grant a bright future to our sport!”

Mr Gary Anderson (USA), the President of USA Shooting, was also re-elected in the position of ISSF Vice-President, starting a new mandate with a total of 190 preferences “Dear Members and Delegates, I accept the mandate with gratitude and commitment – said Mr Anderson – and I promise you that I will work as hard as I can in favour of the shooting sport, and that I will be devoted to our shooting family. Thank you!”

Mr Medhat Wahdan (EGY), one of the four ISSF Vice-President serving during the previous term, was re-elected with 176 votes “Dear colleagues, thank you very much for your great support – said Mr Wahdan from the podium of the General Assembly – I promise that I will continue to give my best to support our beloved sport!”

Mr Vladimir Lisin (RUS), the President of the European Shooting Sport Confederation, the fifth candidate for the ISSF Vice-Presidency, received 92 votes and was not elected.

Mrs Unni Nicolaysen of Norway, who had been serving the ISSF as Vice President form 1994 to 2010, resigned this year, and did not run for another term. The ISSF General Assembly elected her as ISSF Honorary Member by acclamation, the highest honour within the shooting family.

ISSF President Olegario Vazquez Raña and Secretary General Horst G. Schreiber re-elected by acclamation

The ISSF General Assembly, meeting today at the Hilton Park Hotel in Munich, Germany, in occasion of the 50th ISSF World Championship in all shooting events, re-elected by acclamation the ISSF leadership guiding the Federation since 1980.

The ISSF General Assembly re-elected by acclamation the ISSF President Olegario Vazquez Raña (MEX) and the ISSF Secretary Horst G. Schreiber, (GER) confirming the leadership that has been guiding the ISSF throughout the last 30 years, since their first election in 1980.

The re-elected President, Mr. Olegario Vazquez Raña, surrounded by his family and accompanied by a long and warm applause of the delegates coming from 115 National Federations, thanked the Assembly for the renewed trust received.

“I would like to thank you for your confidence and friendship – said the President – This is once again a very special day for me. Since many years I have been active in the International Shooting Sport Federation, first as an Olympian, and then as an officer. After all these years, your trust is the most important thing for me.”

“I am here with my wife and my daughter, my family surrounds me, and I share with you the same respect as if you were part of my family. The Shooting Sport Federation is my family!” added Mr. Olegario Vazquez Raña.

“Thank you everybody!” concluded the President “I will keep on doing my best to promote our sport, and to keep up with your confidence. Thank you!”

The ISSF Secretary General, Mr. Horst G. Schreiber was also re-elected by acclamation by the ISSF General Assembly, and said he will serve for another term next to the President

“I would like to thank you for your confidence!” Said Mr. Schreiber “I will continue working for the shooting sport as in the past also in the future!”

ISSF World Cup in Ft Benning: Medal Standings

China in first with 10 medals, the USA followed with 6 medals. Russia came in third, while Italy grabbed a surprising fourth place.

The ISSF World Cup in Rifle and Pistol events was closed today by the 50m Pistol Men final. The Chinese shooting team finished atop of the overall medal standings of the competition for the third consecutive time, this year, nailing an outstanding number of medals. With 3 Gold, 3 Silver and 4 Bronzes, the Chinese shooter won a total number of 10 medals, one third of the awards.

Winning 2 Golds, both in Rifle events, the host team, the USA, missed the first spot and placed in second, with a total number of 6 medals. Following them, Russia ended up in third place with 1 Gold and 5 medals in total. The surprise of this World Cup Stage was the outcome of the Italian team, fourth with 3 medals, two of those won in Rifle events by the 22-year old European Champion Niccolò Campriani, studying and training here in the USA.

“It has been a successful competition – said the ISSF Technical Delegate for this World Cup Stage, Mr. Max Mueckle of Germany – We congratulate our shooters, for their excellent results, all the staff and the volunteers, as well as out hosts, the USA Shooting Federation and Fort Benning. We are looking forward to come back here!”
