2012 ISSF Rifle and PIstol World Cup FInal to be held in Bangkok

This year’s Rifle and Pistol Wolrd Cup Final will be held in Thailand, on the lines of the Bangkok’s shooting range.

The 2012 ISSF Rifle and Pistol World Cup Final will take place at the Shooting Range of Bangkok (THA), from the 22nd through the 28th of October 2012.

 

Bangkok’s Shooting Range has already hosted several international shooting  competitions, such as the 2007 Universade, the 2007 World Cup Stage, and the 2007 and 2008 ISSF Rifle and Pistol World Cup Finals.

ISSF Shotgun World Cup Final closed in Al Ain

Italy finished on top. “A great competition” the ISSF President, Mr. Olegario Vazquez Raña said at the closing ceremony, awarding the Chairman of the Organizing Committee.

Today’s Trap Men Final won by Australia’s two-time Olympic Champion Michael Diamond closed this year’s ISSF Shotgun World Cup Final in Al Ain (UAE).

 

The competitions, which was hosted at the Al Ain Equestrian, Shooting & Golf Club, in the United Arab Emirates, kicked-off on the last September the 30th.

 

Only the top shotgun shooters of the world were eligible to participate in the event: the reigning world champions, the 2010 ISSF World Cup Final title defenders, and the top-8 World Cup competitors selected throughout this year’s four ISSF world cup stages in Sydney (AUS), Conception (CHI), Beijing (CHN) and Maribor (SLO).

 

“This had been a great competition, also thanks to our hosts, who organized an excellent event.” The ISSF President, Mr. Olegario Vazquez Raña said at the closing ceremony, awarding H.E. Mohammed Rashid Al Nasseri, President of the Organizing Committee an ISSF Silver medal.

 

“This is a beautiful shooting range, one of the best of the world, and I am sure we will be coming back here in Al Ain.” The President added.

 

Italy atop of the medal standings

It was Italy who finished atop of the medal standings, with an overall of three medals, all won in Trap event. The 19-year old Trap phenomenon Jessica Rossi won the Trap Women event yesterday, while Rodolfo Vigano and Massimo Fabbrizi finished on today’s Trap Men podium in second and third place, behind the two-time Olympic Champ Michael Diamond.

Australia, India and the USA finished atop of the overall medal standings of this event, with one Gold medal each, as well as the hosting country, the United Arab Emirates, who celebrated the victory of H.H. Sheik Saeed Al Maktoum at the Skeet Men event.

2011 ISSF Shotgun World Cup Final officially opened in Al Ain (UAE)

The best shotgun shooters of the world met in Al Ain for the last match of the year: who will rise up the five ISSF Cups?

The 2011 ISSF Shotgun World Cup Final officially kicked-off in Al Ain (UAE), today.

 

The ISSF President, Mr. Olegario Vazquez Raña, welcomed the top class shotgun shooters of the world, who will compete at the Al Ain Equestrian, Shooting and Golf Club from the 30th of September through the 7th of October.

 

Only the bests are eligible to participate in this match: the reigning World Champions, the 2010 title defenders and the top-8 2011 World Cup performers, selected throughout this year’s four ISSF World Cup Stages in Conception (CHI), Sydney (AUS), Beijing (CHN) and Maribor (SLO).

 

Five ISSF Cups, are to be assigned in the five Olympic events of Skeet, Trap  (Men and Women) and Double Trap Men. Fifty-nine competitors, coming from twenty-four countries, will try to secure them, on the layouts Al Ain’s shooting ground.

 

The Patron of the event, H.H. Sheikh Mohammed bin Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the Al Ain Equestrian, Shooting and Golf Club, officially declared open the competition, exchanging then a present in sign of mutual recognition with the ISSF President Olegario Vazquez Raña.

 

The competitors were also saluted by the UAE’s Ruler’s representative for the Eastern Region, H.H. Sheik Tahnoon bin Mohammed Al Nahyan, who participated in the opening ceremony and also joined the dancers during the traditional UAE folklore show.

 

H.E. Mohammed Rashid Al Nasseri, the President of the Organizing Committee, also welcomed the shooters, thanking the ISSF and local authorities that joined the opening ceremony.

 

“We thank you all for hosting us here, in this beautiful country. It’s with great pleasure that we open this ISSF World Cup Final held here in Al Ain.” The ISSF President, Mr. Olegario Vazuquez Raña said at the opening ceremony, also saluting the four ISSF Vice-Presidents present at the ceremony, Mr. Medhat Wadhan (Technical Delegate for this competition), H.H. Sheik Salman Al Sabah (President of the Asian Shooting Sport Confederation), Mr. Luciano Rossi and Mr. Gary Anderson.

 

“The best shooters of the world are competing here in Al Ain. I wish you all good luck, and a successful competition!” The ISSF President said.

2011 ISSF Rifle and Pistol World Cup Final opened in Wroclaw

The best Rifle and Pistol shooters of the world met in Wroclaw, Poland, to compete in this year’s ISSF World Cup Final. The reigning World Champions, the title defenders and the best eighth World Cup competitions of the year will fight to secure the 2011 ISSF World Cup title starting from tomorrow morning right through the 24th of September.

Eighty-six athletes, coming from thirty-one countries (for a total of 99 starts), are competing in the 2011 Rifle and Pistol World Cup Final, which kicked off today in Wroclaw, Poland.

 

The event, with the first medal matches starting tomorrow, is the conclusive act of the 2011 ISSF Rifle and Pistol World Cup Series, which travelled from Sydney (AUS) to Changwon (KOR), passing through Fort Benning (USA) before landing in Munich (GER) where the last Rifle and Pistol Stage was conducted last June.

 

“The best shooters of the world are competing here for the 2011 ISSF World Cup Title. I am sure that the Organizers will provide the best possible conditions for this event.” The ISSF Secretary General – Mr. Franz Schreiber – said while declaring the Final officially opened, at today’s Opening Ceremony.

 

“We are happy to have you here on the recurrence of the 90th anniversary of the Polish shooting federation.” The President of the Polish shooting Federation, Mr. Tomasz Kwiecien said at the Opening Ceremony “We would like to thank the ISSF for entrusting us with the organization of this important competition.”

 

More than 2400 athletes participated in this year’s ISSF World Cup Series, and 96 Olympic Quota Places – the entrance tickets to the 2012 London Olympics – were distributed since March.

 

Only the best made it through and arrived to compete here in Wroclaw: the top eighth World Cup competitors of the year (qualified through a points system), the reigning world champions and the 2010 World Cup title defenders are eligible to participate in the competition, upon invitation of the organizers.

 

The first three medal matches, the 50m Rifle Prone Men, the 50m Pistol Men and the 25m Pistol Women finals will take place tomorrow, starting from 12.00 (GMT+1). Follow the event on www.issf-sports.org!

LAST ISSF SHOTGUN WORLD CUP KICKS-OFF IN MARIBOR

A record number of athletes gathered to Maribor’s Gaj Shooting Range to compete in the last World Cup of the year, trying to secure a pass to the 2012 Games.

The fourth and last ISSF Shotgun World Cup Stage of the year kicked-off at the Gaj Shooting Range in Maribor, Slovenia, where the competition is held between the 7th through the 16th of July.

“’It’s a record event! The numbers shows us that this world cup stage is a complete success, and that our sport is attracting a great number of athlete from every corner of the world!” The ISSF Vice President, Medhat Wahdan, during his officially opening speech, commenting on the excellent turnout of athlete of this ISSF World Cup Stage.

“In behalf of the ISSF President, Mr. Olegario Vazquez Raña, I would like to thank the organizers of this event for these outstanding results.”

592 shooters coming from 77 countries will participate in this Olympic qualifier world cup stage, trying to secure one of the Quota Places awarded here in Maribor.

This is indeed the last chance to win a quota, before the World Championship that will be held in Belgrade in September.

“We have to thank our team for this success!” the President of the Organizing Committee, Mr. Igor Ragusa, said at the Opening Ceremony.

“Our volunteers, our sponsors and our team experts played a determinant role in the organization of this event.”

“I hope you will have a pleasant stay here in Maribor, and I hope to see you again next year, when we will host an ISSF World Cup Final on this range.” Mr. Ragusa concluded.

“This is the biggest Shotgun World Cup Final ever, in terms of participation.” The President of the Slovenian Shooting Federation, Mr. Gorazd Maloic added.

“We are proud that this range will be the centre of the shooting world, in the next days, and we wish you all a great success!” He said along with the Major of Slovenca Bistrica, speaking to the shooters attending the ceremony.

The first medal match, the Trap Women final, will take place on the 9th of July, at 19.30 (Slovenian time).
