ISSF Shotgun World Cup Final in Al Ain

The competition was rescheduled in Al Ain (UAE) from September 27 to October 6.

The 2011 ISSF Shotgun World Cup Final will take place at the four-layout shooting range of Al Ain (UAE) from the 27th of September to the 6th of October.

 

The competition, which was originally planned to take place in Cairo, had to be rescheduled due to the current situation in Egypt, and after reconsidering the safety conditions in the country at present.

 

The new location has been published on the ISSF website at http://www.issf-sports.org/calendar.ashx

Beijing’s World Cup: Medals and Records

China finished atop of the medal standings, while four world records were tied.

Today’s Trap Men Final concluded the ISSF Shotgun World Cup in Beijing, China, where more than 350 shooters have been competing in the five Olympic events of Shotgun shooting trying to achieve one of the ten London 2012 Quotas to be awarded here.

 

The host nation, China, finished atop of the medal standing, securing one Gold and one Bronze medals. Four nations tied in second place: Croatia, Cyprus, Italy and Malta all claimed one Gold medal.

Four Records were scored, during this 2011 ISSF Shotgun World Cup in Beijing. The Olympic layouts of the Clay Target Field proved to be a location for great performances once again, during this world cup stage. It was China’s Wei Ning who tied both the world and the final world record to win the Skeet Women final, finishing on the highest step of the podium with 99 hits. And another Skeet shooter, Cyprus’ Antonakis Andreou tied the Skeet Men World Record of 125 hits out of 125 targets, winning then the final round and an Olympic Quota Place to participate in the 2012 Olympics. Also young shooters finished in the spotlights, as the 19-year old American shooter Reachel Lynn Heiden tied her Trap Women Junior World Record of 73 hits.

ISSF Rifle & Pistol World Cup Changwon – Quotas and Medals

The competition ended today. Check out the medal standings and the Quota Places assigned in this World Cup Stage.

Today’s 50m Rifle 3 Positions Men Final concluded the 2011 ISSF Rifle and Pistol World Cup Stage in Changwon, Korea.

More than 500 athletes coming from 58 countries competed in the ten Olympic events of Rifle and Pistol shooting from the 7th to the 14th of April, trying to secure one of the 24 Olympic Quota Places, the pass to the next Games, to be awarded here.

The ISSF World Cup Series moves now to Beijing, where a Shotgun WC Stage will take place at the 2008 Clay Target Olympic venue starting from the 19th of April.

The next appointment with Rifle & Pistol events is set for the 14th of May, when the next ISSF Rifle & Pistol World Cup Stage will kick-off in Fort Benning, USA.

 

China atop of Changwon Medal Standings

It was the People’s Republic of China to finish atop of the medal standings, with 3 Gold, 1 Silver and 2 Bronze medals, for a total of 6 podiums. The United States of America followed in second place with 1 Gold and 2 Silver medals. The Serbian team also secured three medals, finishing in third place with one medal of each colour.

ISSF Rifle and Pistol World Cup kicked-off in Korea

The ISSF President, Olegario Vazquez Raña, welcomed the participants at the opening ceremony in Changwon. Five hundred athletes will compete there from tomorrow to the 15th of April.

More than 500 shooters coming from 58 countries arrived in Changwon, Korea, to participate in the third leg of this year’s ISSF World Cup Series.

 

Starting from tomorrow morning, the best athletes of the world will compete in the ten Olympic events of Rifle and Pistol shooting, on the lines of the well-known shooting range of Changwon, were 12 ISSF world cups have been conducted since 1987.

 

Twenty-four Olympic Quota Places are in the sights of the competitors, which will try to win a pass to the next 2012 Games here in Korea.

 

“I would like to thank our Korean friends for organizing this competition,” The ISSF President, Olegario Vazquez Raña, said at the opening ceremony which took place this evening. “This is going to be a great competition, an Olympic Qualifier with an impressive participation of athletes. I wish you all the best success!”

 

The athletes were also welcomed by the President of the Korean Shooting Federation, Jung Kim, and by the Major of Changwon, Park Wan-Su.

 

The first two medal matches, the 10m Air Rifle and the 50m Pistol Men finals will take place tomorrow, April the 9th, at 12.30 and 14.30 (GMT+9) respectively.
